Installation Only: Fitting a Water Pump You Already Bought

What happens when the pump is yours and you only need it installed

Not every enquiry starts with choosing a pump. Some owners have already bought one, perhaps online, through a hardware shop, or passed on by a relative. Others bought a pump during a renovation that was never connected. In these cases, what you need is installation only.

Installation only is RM800 per unit, for the customer's own pump. It covers pump installation, basic wiring, and testing and commissioning. This article explains what we look at before agreeing a date, what the day involves, and which items are quoted separately.

Why we ask about your pump first

When we supply the pump, we already know exactly what is arriving. When the pump is yours, we need to understand it before planning the job. This is not about doubting your purchase; it is about making sure the installation goes smoothly and the pump suits the place it is going.

The nameplate

Please send a clear photo of the label on the pump body. It shows the brand, the model and the power rating. From this we can see what kind of pump it is and whether it matches the symptoms you described.

The box and the parts

If the pump is new, a photo of the box contents helps. Pressure switch, controller, fittings and any manual should be there. Missing parts are better discovered on WhatsApp than on installation day.

Its condition, if used

If the pump was previously installed somewhere else, tell us. A photo of the pump body, connections and cable lets us see whether there is visible damage, rust or a cut cable that should be discussed first.

What we check about the location

The same location photos apply as for any installation: where the pump will sit, the tank and its outlet pipe if you have one, the pipes around the area, and the nearest power point. These tell us whether the connection is straightforward or whether extra work is likely.

• Space and access around the pump for fitting and later servicing.
• Pipe size and route so the pump connects without strain.
• Power point distance, since basic wiring is included but extra wiring is quoted separately.
• Shelter from rain and direct sun, where the location allows.

What installation only includes

For RM800 per unit, installation only, the scope is:

1. Installing your pump at the agreed spot.
2. Basic wiring to a suitable nearby power point.
3. Testing and commissioning, so the pump runs and the outlets are checked for pressure and function.

What is quoted separately

Some jobs need more than a straightforward connection. These are not part of the installation-only price and are quoted separately before work starts:

• Pipe modification, for example rerouting or changing pipe size to reach the pump.
• Extra wiring, if the nearest suitable power point is far or a new point is required.
• Removing an old pump that is currently in place.

Commercial setups can involve more work, so those are discussed case by case on WhatsApp.

When supply and installation may make more sense

Sometimes, after seeing the photos, the pump you have may not suit your building, for instance a small pump for a tall shoplot. In that case we will tell you plainly, and you can decide whether to go ahead or choose one of our packages instead. Supply and installation is priced per unit: Tsunami at RM1,800 per unit for 0.50HP, RM2,000 per unit for 0.75HP and RM2,200 per unit for 1.00HP, supply and installation; Grundfos at RM3,600 per unit for 0.50HP, RM3,800 per unit for 0.75HP and RM4,000 per unit for 1.00HP, supply and installation.
